In juts two short weeks, I'll be taking a long weekend and going down to Carolina Beach with some friends. While i'm there, i'm going to try my hand at fly fishing the intra-coastal flats for reds, specks, and whatever else might take my flies.
I've been doing a lot of reading, map-searching, and talking to a few people that know the area, so I feel like I have a fighting chance. Got a good price on a saltwater flyline for the 7 weight, and everything should be good to go. In the mean time, all of my classic, steelhead, trout, and warmwater fly tying has been suspended while I assemble a box of saltwater patterns. While I don't really feel qualified to explain what any of these are or how they'll do, here's a few pictures of my work...

How did you do with the Reds? I'm thinking of heading to S.C. this summer.
Not so great, my friend, though I did manage to catch a flounder!
I had a good experience wading the mud flats, and would try it again in a heartbeat, but unfortunately, no reds seemed to be interested in the flies I was throwing.
